Qigong for Menopause and Perimenopause
An immersion for women who are ready to work with their changing body, not against it.
The hot flashes, the 3am wake-ups, the feelings you can't quite name… your body isn't betraying you. It's asking for something different.
Perimenopause and menopause are not a breakdown. In Chinese medicine, they're a powerful transition, a shift from outward giving to inward nourishment. And one of the most profound things Qigong offers this life phase is this: when energy moves, symptoms soften. When emotions have somewhere to go, the nervous system settles. When Yin is nourished, the heat clears.
This intimate retreat uses Qigong to help you clear heat, calm the nervous system, restore Yin, and feel at home in your body again, working with your changing body, not against it. We will practice by the ocean, share nourishing food, have real conversation with women who get it, and enough stillness to actually feel the shift.
Held at a private oceanside villa on Vancouver Island — pool, hot tub, flowering gardens, eagles overhead - all yours for the retreat. With the option to go next door for dinner at The Summer Kitchen, a beloved local restaurant right next door.
Intimate by design- just 8 women- so every session feels personal, and every moment feels spacious. You will leave with a daily home practice, a deeper understanding of how Qigong supports hormonal health, and a community of women that truly get it.
Eight women. One transition, met with grace.
A Guided Retreat inviting your Nervous System to feel peace
Healing sounds
Each organ in Chinese medicine carries an emotion. The liver holds anger and frustration. The lungs hold grief and loss. The heart holds joy — and when it's depleted, holds anxiety, restlessness, and that feeling of not quite being yourself.
In perimenopause and menopause, these emotions often rise to the surface — not to overwhelm you, but because your body is finally ready to release what it's been carrying. The 6 Healing Sounds are one of Qigong's most ancient and effective tools for exactly this: a practice that uses specific tones and movements to gently metabolise stored emotion, clear stagnation from the organs, and create space for something quieter to move in. You may laugh. You may cry. You may feel a stillness you haven't felt in years. All of it is welcome here.

How Cultivating Yin Clears the Heat
1. Yin provides the anchor When yin is strong, yang stays rooted in the lower body. Heat has nowhere to rise to. Cultivating yin doesn't suppress heat — it gives yang somewhere to return to.
2. Stillness is medicine Every moment of genuine stillness in qigong practice generates yin. This is not passive — it is an active cultivation. The body knows how to rebuild yin; we have to create the conditions for it to do so.
3. The kidneys are the root All yin in the body traces back to kidney yin. When we nourish the kidneys through gentle movement, breath, and focused awareness at the lower dan tian, we are replenishing the source — not just managing symptoms.
4. Calming shen reduces the heat load Emotional heat is real heat. Anxiety, frustration, and grief all generate internal fire. When qigong practice settles the shen, it reduces the body's total heat burden — so less yin is needed to cool it.
5. Downward flow restores balance Most menopausal heat symptoms involve upward-rising qi and yang. Qigong breathing, rooting practices, and downward-directing movements reverse that rising current — drawing energy back down to where it belongs.
Stillness
And then there is the stillness. Not the kind you force, or schedule, or perform — but the kind that arrives when your nervous system finally believes it is safe. Qigong teaches us that stillness is not the absence of movement. It is the ground from which all movement comes.
As your energy begins to flow and your emotions find their natural rhythm, you may find that the stillness finds you — on the patio at sunrise, in the garden after lunch, in the quiet after an evening practice by the ocean.
Dinner At The Summer Kitchen
We have the option to walk next door to The Summer Kitchen for dinner together Saturday and Sunday, with chef extraordinaire Marc-Andre
There is something particular about gathering around a table with women you’ve moved and breathed with all day. A good meal in a beautiful place, after a day of practice, has its own kind of medicine.
Your Guide Aumsong
Aumsong has been teaching Qigong for more than 20 years and holds the designation of Master of Medical Qigong. Her work draws from a rare and deeply integrated lineage — classical Qigong, Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hakomi, Parts Work, Tantra, and somatic therapeutic counselling — all woven together in service of one thing: helping people reconnect with the wisdom of their own body.
She creates spaces that are safe, compassionate, and deeply transformational. Spaces where the body is not a problem to be managed, but an intelligence to be listened to.
She is also, right now, in this transition herself.
"My own Qigong practice is one of the things helping me move through perimenopause with more ease and clarity. I'm not teaching from a place of having arrived somewhere. I'm teaching from inside the experience — which means I know, in my body, what these practices do."
This retreat grew from that place. From years of working with women navigating health transitions, stress, and the deeper questions of embodied life — and from the recognition that women in this phase deserve more than symptom management. They deserve a practice, a community, and four days of being truly met where they are.
Accommodation and Pricing
A note on pricing
This is a founding offer. Flow into Your Second Spring is running for the first time this July. At my home, by the ocean, for eight women. The sliding scale pricing reflects that. This rate will not be available again. What will be available is a retreat shaped and deepened by the women who were brave enough to come first.
If you've been waiting for a sign — this is it.
